Agartala, May 6 (NationPress) Tripura's Chief Minister Manik Saha revealed that the state government is gearing up to appoint 'special executives' as tourist police across all major tourist destinations in the state.
During the inauguration and laying of foundation stones for various projects totaling Rs 210 crore in the Amarpur sub-division of the Gomati District, the Chief Minister mentioned that, following the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP government in Tripura is placing significant emphasis on the tourism sector.
He noted that through various Central initiatives, such as 'Prasad' (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive), the state government is undertaking numerous ambitious projects to enhance tourism infrastructure throughout Tripura.
Asserting that Tripura has become an insurgency-free state, Saha stated, “We must convey to everyone that our state is a peaceful haven. Though insurgency existed, the NLFT (National Liberation Front of Tripura) and ATTF (All Tripura Tiger Force) militants have surrendered, marking a new chapter for us.”
“Our law and order situation has improved remarkably. For 35 years, the CPI-M-led Left Front and the Congress never prioritized tourism development, whereas PM Modi consistently advocates for Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and empowering women. We are committed to placing tourism at the forefront,” he added.
The Chief Minister highlighted several tourist attractions in Tripura, including Unakoti, Ujjayanta Palace, and Rudrasagar.
“We are investing heavily in the enhancement of tourist spots. It is essential that we unite to promote our tourism industry,” the Chief Minister emphasized.
A project worth Rs 67 crore has been initiated for the development of 'Chabimura', renowned for its stunning rock carvings on a cliff along the Gomati River in southern Tripura.
He remarked that previous administrations exploited tribal communities for electoral gains, while the current BJP government is focused on their holistic development.
“Now the tribal population is content. People desire peace and progress; they reject chaos and violence,” expressed Saha, who also oversees the Home portfolio.
Subsequently, in the Amarpur sub-division, encompassing three Assembly constituencies, projects worth Rs 210 crore were inaugurated and foundation stones laid.
