Agartala, Nov 14 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, declared that the BJP government is dedicated to fortifying and broadening the higher education framework in the state, aiming to provide enhanced academic opportunities and superior learning experiences for students.
During the inauguration and foundation stone laying event for a new private university, along with the necessary infrastructure and related facilities, the Chief Minister emphasized that the National Education Policy (NEP) is designed to foster multidisciplinary education, skill enhancement, value-oriented learning, and global readiness.
Chief Minister Saha, who manages the Elementary and Secondary Education departments, noted that the creation of the private university symbolizes the increasing significance of higher education in Tripura.
He pointed out that the student body at the new university encompasses a wide array of backgrounds, including numerous students from Tripura and other states such as Punjab, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and West Bengal.
"We also welcome students from Bangladesh, showcasing the institution's expanding influence," he remarked.
The Chief Minister reiterated that NEP 2020 promotes a creative educational approach and emphasizes the importance of preparing students for upcoming challenges and opportunities.
"The Tripura government is committed to enhancing the higher education landscape in the state. Our objective is to establish Tripura as a premier educational hub in the Northeast. We are focused on developing robust infrastructure, elevating faculty standards, and ensuring broader access to educational resources for all learners," stated CM Saha.
He added that government initiatives are directed towards cultivating an environment where students can excel, learn, and create fulfilling futures while contributing to the advancement of both the state and the nation.
Chief Minister Saha underscored the necessity of aligning the education system with industry demands, research, innovation, and community development.
He noted that educational establishments in Tripura are increasingly engaging students in scientific research, skill development workshops, legal awareness initiatives, and community outreach efforts.
He highlighted that the state has experienced rapid infrastructure progress, enhanced connectivity, and new opportunities for youth in recent years.
"Our government is devoted to crafting a setting where education is pivotal in preparing the next generation for a global, technology-driven environment. I encourage all students to fully utilize the resources and opportunities at your disposal," he emphasized.
Enumerating the educational strengths of the state, Chief Minister Saha, who also oversees the Health and Family Welfare sector, mentioned that Tripura hosts three medical colleges, including one private medical college, a dental college, a B.Sc. nursing college, a pharmacology college, and various nursing institutions.
"We have 28 general degree colleges, six polytechnic colleges, five professional colleges, and one technical degree college. The government aims to transform the Tripura Institute of Technology into a university. We also have one NIT, a campus of the National Forensic Science University, an Agricultural College, a Veterinary College, a Central Sanskrit University campus, along with multiple private universities," he stated.
The Chief Minister expressed optimism about the establishment of additional private universities in the near future, anticipating their campuses will soon be operational in Tripura.
The event was attended by Higher Education Minister Kishore Barman, Chancellor of the private university Satyam Roy Chowdhury, Co-Chairperson of the institute Manasi Roy Chowdhury, former Vice-Chancellor of Tripura University Padma Shri Arunoday Saha, Vice-Chancellor of the private university Ratan Kumar Saha, and others.
