Key Takeaways
Agartala, March 18 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, declared on Wednesday that the state has successfully reached a zero dropout rate in primary education (Class I to V), a remarkable achievement for the education system in the region.
During his address in the state Assembly, the Chief Minister emphasized that this success is the result of continuous efforts made by the Elementary Education Department and various student-centric programs that have been implemented.
Saha pointed out that the state is committed to the success of the NIPUN Bharat Mission and has also initiated the Saharsha Tripura program, which aims to foster the social, emotional, and overall well-being of children.
A multitude of strategies is being employed to support students and eliminate the risk of dropouts. These initiatives include providing learning materials and play resources, promoting digital education, and establishing libraries in all schools.
To ensure effective oversight, student attendance and potential dropouts are monitored through the U-DISE system. The government is also offering specialized training for children who are out of school and providing hostel accommodations for students from remote regions.
Additional supportive measures encompass the construction of separate toilets in educational institutions, stipends for children with special needs, regular meetings between teachers and parents, and the provision of free uniforms and textbooks.
Reiterating the government’s dedication to education, Saha stated that these collective endeavors have been crucial in ensuring that every child in Tripura remains engaged in primary schooling.
Earlier the same day, the Chief Minister congratulated Ram Pada Jamatia on his uncontested election as the new Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly.
This election was necessitated by the passing of the previous Speaker, Biswa Bandhu Sen, who died on December 26 last year. Sen, a four-time MLA, passed away at the age of 72 after receiving medical treatment for over four months.
Saha characterized this moment as significant for the Assembly, noting that Jamatia’s uncontested election reflects widespread confidence in his leadership. He commended the new Speaker’s Hindi address, noting it brought a refreshing change to the atmosphere of the House.
“We are pleased to have such a capable Speaker. The Legislative Assembly is a space for fairness and democracy, where one must transcend politics,” the Chief Minister remarked.
Saha expressed confidence that Jamatia would fulfill his duties with integrity and efficiency.
He extended his personal congratulations as well as those from the Leader of the House, hoping that the new Speaker’s term will be remembered for its excellence and contributions to the democratic values in Tripura.
