Jaipur, March 18 (NationPress) Four family members were successfully rescued after a massive fire erupted in their showroom located in Udaipur's Bapu Bazaar on Tuesday.

Thick black smoke emanating from the showroom was visible from several kilometers away, causing a sense of panic in the vicinity.

A number of fire brigade vehicles were dispatched to the location to extinguish the flames and assist the trapped family, who were stuck on the third floor of the building.

According to DSP Chhagan Purohit, the fire originated on the ground floor and quickly spread to the upper levels.

Showroom owner Nikesh Valwani and his family, who resided on the third floor, found themselves trapped as the fire blocked their exit.

Rescue efforts were led by Surajpol Police Station Officer Bhavesh Gurjar and SI Veeram Singh.

Fortunately, Nikesh Valwani, his wife, and their two children were safely evacuated through an adjacent building, as confirmed by Singh.

Police on the scene advised the public to keep a safe distance. Nearby shopkeepers noticed the rising smoke and promptly alerted the fire department. The showroom contained three gas cylinders, watches, batteries, and various electronic items.

A loud explosion was heard due to a battery bursting. Chief Fire Officer Babulal Chaudhary stated that the fire has now been brought under control.

Initial investigations indicate that a short circuit might have caused the fire. As a precaution, authorities have cleared the area and instructed nearby businesses to close.

Prakash Ahuja, a relative of the showroom owner, recounted the frightening moments leading to the fire.

"My niece, her husband, and their two children were in the house. Around 9 a.m., they noticed a burning odor when they came downstairs. When they went upstairs to get water, the fire spread quickly, and thick smoke obstructed their escape route," Ahuja reported.
