New Delhi, March 15 (NationPress) As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) mocks Rahul Gandhi's overseas trips to Vietnam—marking his second visit this year—Congress leader Udit Raj stepped in to advocate for his personal choice of Holi destination.

Reports indicate that Rahul was in Vietnam while the nation observed the festival of colors, leading the BJP to question his frequent travels to the country.

“He is spending more time in Vietnam than in his constituency,” remarked BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, delivering a pointed critique of the Congress MP.

Importantly, Rahul's initial visit to Vietnam coincided with the seven-day national mourning period for former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

In a conversation with IANS regarding this matter, Udit Raj dismissed the ‘ridiculous’ criticisms and emphasized that individuals have the right to make their own choices. Clearly irritated by inquiries about the Leader of Opposition's (LoP) international travels, he challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi's capability to manage global affairs adeptly.

"Rahul Gandhi is not comparable to PM Modi. When Donald Trump claimed that BRICS was dead, all BRICS countries, including India, felt anxious. If a knowledgeable person like Rahul Gandhi had been present, would Trump have dared to say this? He possesses his unique leadership style," he asserted.

Udit Raj further defended Rahul's overseas trips against criticism.

"If he remains in India, will the entire nation flock to see him? Does every leader draw crowds across the country?" he posed.

In his enthusiasm to support the LoP, the Congress leader contrasted his foreign journeys with PM Modi's diplomatic excursions, stating, "PM Modi has met Xi Jinping 18 times. Rahul Gandhi does not travel internationally as frequently as PM Modi does. With so much work to attend to in India, why is PM Modi more present on foreign soil?"

Responding to concerns about Rahul Gandhi's absence during the Holi celebration, Udit Raj dismissed the worries, stating, "How does this impact national politics? Everyone celebrates Holi with their family. If Rahul Gandhi were here, would the entire nation have gathered to meet him?"

"During festivals, everyone has the freedom to celebrate as they choose. If Rahul Gandhi wishes to observe Holi in his own manner, how is that related to politics? It is his personal choice," he concluded.
