Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 13 (NationPress) Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia is set to launch a Samriddhi Kendra in Umri village, located in Madhya Pradesh's Guna district, on March 14, according to information released on Friday.
This project is part of a pilot initiative by the Department of Telecommunications, aimed at illustrating how rural communities can gain from a blend of physical and digital services.
The goal is to merge physical amenities with digital offerings to enhance access to vital services in rural settings.
The centre in Umri will act as a comprehensive service hub situated within the Panchayat Bhawan.
During his visit, the minister will assess demonstrations of various services available at the centre and engage with local beneficiaries.
Additionally, he will launch a health check-up and cataract awareness campaign and speak to a public assembly.
The government states that this initiative is aimed at showcasing how the high-speed digital infrastructure established under BharatNet can facilitate the delivery of integrated citizen services at the village level.
BharatNet is recognized as one of the largest rural broadband initiatives globally, intending to provide high-speed internet access to villages throughout India.
The Samriddhi Kendra in Umri is set to deliver services across various sectors, including education and skill development, agricultural assistance, healthcare and telemedicine, e-governance, financial inclusion, e-commerce, digital connectivity, and safety measures.
This Umri project is a component of a broader pilot initiative that also encompasses villages in two other states.
These include Narakoduru in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district and Chaurawala in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district.
Each Samriddhi Kendra will cater to several nearby villages within a five-kilometre radius, reflecting diverse demographic contexts.
The pilot programme is being executed by the Department of Telecommunications, with collaboration from the Digital Empowerment Foundation, which is responsible for field operations and community mobilization.
Officials noted that the Samriddh Gram Phygital Services Pilot will assist the government in understanding how to construct integrated service delivery models utilizing BharatNet connectivity.
This initiative is also anticipated to create a replicable framework for enhancing rural digital service ecosystems by uniting connectivity infrastructure, service delivery platforms, and community involvement.
