Unified Efforts Essential for Fostering a Sense of Togetherness: Chief Minister of Manipur

Imphal, Jan 13 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Manipur, N. Biren Singh, stated on Sunday that the bond and harmonious existence among all indigenous communities has endured for centuries.While addressing the state-level 'Gaan-Ngai' celebration at Sagolband Ramji Kabui Village in the Imphal West district, he asserted that collaborative efforts are essential to nurture a sense of unity and belonging within the state.
“We must protect our rich cultural heritage and traditions, and pay homage to the legacy of our forebears,” he emphasized.
The Chief Minister called upon the citizens to assume responsibility and ownership in upholding ancient traditions and customs, regardless of the faith practiced by any community.
In light of the ongoing devastating wildfires impacting Los Angeles, he remarked that humanity has failed to respect nature.
“This has resulted in frequent natural disasters both globally and within our state,” he pointed out.
Singh urged immediate action to safeguard and preserve nature, recalling that the initiative “Green Imphal, Green Manipur” was launched during his term as Forest and Environment Minister from 2004-05.
He served as a minister in the previous Congress administration led by the veteran leader Okram Ibobi Singh, who was in office from 2002-2017.
The Chief Minister appealed to the populace for their support and cooperation in nature conservation. “It is our collective duty to strive for a developed Manipur,” he stated, suggesting that the state-level 'Gaan-Ngai Festival' be held at the Sangai Ethnic Park, Moirang Khunou, in a grand fashion.
He also mentioned that the government has sought an additional fund of approximately Rs 100 crore for the enhancement of the Sangai Ethnic Park in Moirang Khunou.
A Unity Mall is currently being constructed at Keikol, Imphal East, with a budget of around Rs 150 crore.
Highlighting some development projects initiated in the hill districts under the BJP government, he noted that the travel time to Tamenglong has been reduced from at least 3 hours to a smooth 45-minute journey.
