Imphal, Nov 12 (NationPress) Ajay Tamta, the Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, conducted a review of several ongoing flagship projects and schemes by both the Central and state governments in the tribal-populated Pherzawl district of Manipur on Wednesday, as reported by officials.
Minister Tamta, who arrived in Manipur on Tuesday for a three-day visit to the unrest-affected state, also made a stop in another tribal-majority district, Churachandpur, where he assessed the flagship initiatives and projects undertaken by various departments.
During his visit on Tuesday, Minister Tamta engaged with representatives of internally displaced persons (IDPs) affected by ethnic conflicts in Churachandpur. In a post on X, he shared, "Visited Churachandpur, Manipur and reviewed the progress of works under various departments and Central schemes. Engaged with the district administration, beneficiaries of government schemes, and members of displaced communities."
On Wednesday, the Minister toured the Community Health Centre in Parbung, the Agarbatti Manufacturing Unit at Taithu village, and various plantation farms for banana, betel nut, and orange in Pherzawl district.
He also examined the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) road linking Taithu and Zoliensuo villages before holding a review meeting at the Pherzawl district headquarters.
After returning to Imphal, the Union Minister plans to meet with Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla. He will later participate in a review meeting regarding the ongoing projects of the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) in Manipur.
On Thursday, Minister Tamta intends to visit the Kanglatombi War Memorial, followed by a briefing from senior NHIDCL officials.
Before heading back to New Delhi, he will stop by Presidency College, Motbung, in Kangpokpi district, where he will interact with beneficiaries of various government schemes.
Minister Tamta will also distribute resources and benefits under schemes such as PMJAY, PMAY, PM-KISAN, PMEGP, and Shakti Sadan.
Notably, he is the third Union Minister to visit the troubled state this month. Last week, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar and Women and Child Development Minister Savitri Thakur visited various districts of Manipur to review the implementation of numerous Central and state government projects and initiatives.
