A representative from Raj Bhavan stated that the Chief Minister visited the Governor at Lok Bhavan in Imphal on Friday evening to deliberate on several crucial topics concerning Manipur.
Details of the issues addressed during the meeting were not disclosed by the official. However, a post shared on X by Lok Bhavan noted: “Chief Minister Shri Yumnam Khemchand Singh met with the Governor of Manipur this evening, with the meeting concentrating on enhancing initiatives aimed at the welfare and comprehensive development of the state.”
Moreover, an official from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) mentioned that the Chief Minister convened a high-ranking review meeting with senior officials at the Civil Secretariat to evaluate the progress and future plans for the rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) affected by ethnic violence.
The review included discussions on vital sectors such as education, healthcare, and connectivity pertaining to IDP rehabilitation, with a strong focus on ensuring sustainable solutions and long-term advantages for the affected communities, the official stated.
The CMO representative added that during the meeting, Chief Minister Singh reiterated the state government’s dedication to a coordinated and people-centric strategy aimed at restoring normalcy and fostering a stronger and more resilient Manipur.
On the preceding Thursday, the Chief Minister engaged with IDPs affected by violence and provided benefits through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) at the Alternate Housing Complex, National Games Village (NGV) Relief Camp located in the Imphal West district.
Approximately Rs 33 crore was disbursed during this event, as per the official. While addressing the IDPs, Chief Minister Singh emphasized that following the lifting of President’s Rule and the establishment of the new government in Manipur, the primary goal was to assist displaced individuals in returning to their homes within a peaceful and hospitable environment.
He also expressed gratitude to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla for his leadership in facilitating the return of some IDPs to their residences.
Notably, for the first time since the outbreak of ethnic violence in May 2023, the Chief Minister interacted with IDPs from both the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities, both in person and via video conferencing, during Thursday’s initiative.
The state government organized a collaborative interaction program that included IDPs from Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, and Imphal West districts.
While the Chief Minister communicated with Kuki-Zo IDPs from Churachandpur and Kangpokpi through video calls, he was physically present at an IDP center at the Langol Alternate Housing Complex in Imphal West.
During this interaction, IDPs from both communities recounted their experiences and the challenges they have endured over the past three years.
