Imphal, Feb 28 (NationPress) The Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, engaged in discussions with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Saturday to address vital issues concerning the state, according to officials.

This meeting holds significance as it follows the establishment of the new government led by Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on February 4, which concluded nearly a year of President’s Rule amid prolonged ethnic turmoil.
Another official, speaking on condition of anonymity, indicated that Bhalla, a former Union Home Secretary, provided the Home Minister with insights regarding Manipur’s security landscape and ongoing initiatives aimed at restoring order.
The conversation also included the rehabilitation of violence-displaced Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). The official noted that security forces are actively conducting joint operations to seize illegal firearms and munitions while also eradicating illicit poppy farming in susceptible regions.
Initiatives are underway to foster confidence-building measures among affected communities to re-establish trust and promote enduring peace.
On February 22, Chief Minister Khemchand Singh along with Deputy Chief Ministers Nemcha Kipgen and Losii Dikho met with the Union Home Minister to deliberate on various matters, including IDP rehabilitation.
An official from the Chief Minister’s Office stated that the Home Minister assessed the new administration’s strategies to eliminate obstacles between communities and restore tranquility and unity in the state.
During his trip to the national capital, the Chief Minister also conferred with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, who pledged comprehensive central support for the enhancement of national and state highways in Manipur.
Khemchand Singh has been in New Delhi since February 21, marking his inaugural visit to the national capital following his swearing-in as Chief Minister on February 4.
On February 24, Singh met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Seva Teerth, where he briefed him on the new government's endeavors to re-establish peace and harmony in Manipur, as reported by officials.
On February 23, the Chief Minister and his deputy counterparts met Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who endorsed the construction of 5,000 new homes for the rehabilitation of IDPs under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin, officials revealed.
The Chief Minister also had discussions with Union Minister for the Development of the North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, who assured coordination with other Union Ministries to address critical issues in Manipur.
Additionally, Khemchand Singh met with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who committed to fully support the revival of the state's financial stability and economy.
The Chief Minister also conferred with Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who guaranteed complete cooperation and support from his Ministry for all initiatives undertaken by the Manipur government.
