Lucknow, Oct 1 (NationPress) To boost the festive spirit among residents during this joyful season, the Uttar Pradesh government has made a significant announcement on Wednesday, unveiling a 10% reduction in bus fares, including for air-conditioned services, enhancing both comfort and convenience for daily commuters and travelers.
This festive initiative by the Uttar Pradesh government, in anticipation of the upcoming celebrations of Dussehra and Diwali, has undoubtedly brought joy to the people, who are welcoming this news with open arms.
All air-conditioned buses operated by the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) will benefit from this fare reduction, effective immediately, and the new rates will remain applicable until further notice.
Transport Minister (Independent Charge) Dayashankar Singh emphasized that this decision aligns with the government’s goal of improving passenger services by offering a more affordable and comfortable travel experience.
The fare cuts apply to services such as Janrath, Pink, Shatabdi, Volvo, and AC sleeper buses. However, it’s important to note that this concession will not extend to newly registered air-conditioned buses starting from January 1, 2024.
What are the new bus fare rates after a 10% reduction?
3*2 Bus Service – Rs 1.45 per kilometre
2*2 Bus Service – Rs 1.60 per kilometre
High-End (Volvo) Buses – Rs 2.30 per kilometre
Air-Conditioned Sleeper – Rs 2.10 per kilometre
The transport minister also mentioned that special training is being provided to the drivers and conductors to encourage them to attract more passengers, ensuring that the bus corporation’s gross revenue does not suffer as a result of this fare reduction.
Earlier in the day, UP CM Yogi Adityanath conveyed warm wishes to the residents of the state on the auspicious occasion of Maha Navami and reiterated his government’s commitment to reducing crime rates against women, ensuring they can live with safety, dignity, and independence.
“Despite being the most populous state in India, Uttar Pradesh today reports the lowest crimes against women while leading the nation in convictions and punishments,” CM Yogi stated proudly.
