Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Lucknow, April 12 (NationPress) - On Sunday, Uttar Pradesh's Transport Minister, Dayashankar Singh, announced that the state's bus stations will undergo significant upgrades, making them digitally advanced and enhancing passenger safety. This development follows the State Cabinet's approval for a project initiated by the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) aimed at redeveloping 49 key bus stations.
This initiative marks a crucial move towards modernizing and fortifying the transport system across the state.
The project, part of the second phase of the UPSRTC's efforts, will operate under a public-private partnership (PPP) model alongside the DBFOT (Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer) framework.
In this initiative, the 49 major bus stations throughout Uttar Pradesh will be transformed to meet international standards.
Minister Singh stated, "The bus stations, developed through the PPP approach, will include improved sanitation, safety measures, and digital information systems. Furthermore, organized parking, commercial spaces, and related services will be integrated to foster smart and sustainable infrastructure."
He also mentioned that the project will be executed under the DBFOT model to ensure that there is no direct financial burden on the state government.
Development will be financed through private investments while the land will remain under the ownership of the corporation.
According to the Transport Minister, "This initiative from the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government will generate new job opportunities, stimulate economic growth, and expedite urban development. Passengers will enjoy safe, convenient, and high-quality transportation services."
Dayashankar Singh emphasized that this project is a pivotal step in establishing modern transport infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh.
As per official reports, the bus stations are set to evolve into contemporary, multi-purpose terminals equipped with advanced amenities for passengers.
The tendering process for selecting developers will commence shortly and will be conducted transparently and competitively.
Additionally, Minister Singh indicated that the state Cabinet has approved three proposals from the transport corporation.
The other two proposals involve allocating land free of charge for the construction of bus stations in the Narora region of Bulandshahr district, as well as in the Tulsipur and Sikandrarao tehsils in Balrampur and Hathras, respectively.
