Lucknow, Sep 12 (NationPress) As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prepares for a 15-day celebration of ‘Sewa Pakhwada’ in honor of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced the observance of ‘Seva Parv’ from September 17 to October 2. The initiative aims to plant 15 lakh saplings throughout the state.
On the first day, each of the state’s 34 Nagar Vans will plant a minimum of 100 saplings.
In addition to the plantation efforts, programs focused on environmental education, rainwater harvesting, and conservation will be organized. Every district will have designated Divisional Forest Officers as nodal points for the campaign.
As per Principal Secretary (Forest-Environment) Anil Kumar, all 75 districts in the state have shown enthusiasm to join this initiative.
The types of saplings to be planted have been pre-selected, and images along with data regarding planting sites will be uploaded to the Meri Life portal.
The District Plantation Committee will work alongside other departments to ensure the ongoing care and protection of the saplings.
On the inaugural day of ‘Seva Parv’, 100 saplings will be planted in each of the 34 Nagar Van-Vatika. Cleanliness campaigns will also take place in all department offices and forest corporation depots, while educational campaigns in zoos and safaris will advocate against single-use plastics.
Cleaning initiatives will extend to various bird sanctuaries, and programs promoting environmental protection, rainwater harvesting, and water resource conservation will be conducted. Workshops focused on nursery action plans will be held in each division.
District-level discussions on topics such as “Viksit Bharat” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” will also take place, focusing on forest and wildlife conservation, promoting greenery, and enhancing biodiversity.
The forest department is set to participate in district fairs and exhibitions, with preparations currently underway.
