Lucknow, March 24 (NationPress) Celebrating eight years of BJP leadership in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a press conference in Lucknow on Monday. He was joined by both Deputy Chief Ministers, prominent ministers, and essential government officials.

Reflecting on the evolution of the state, the Chief Minister remarked, "Eight years ago, Uttar Pradesh was deemed a 'Bimaru' state. Today, it stands tall as an economic leader. The same state that once struggled with riots and terrorism is now hailed as a beacon of development."

He attributed this positive shift to the policies and governance of the BJP-led administration.

Yogi Adityanath emphasized the state's economic advancements, stating, "Uttar Pradesh, which previously hindered the nation's growth, is now propelling it forward. While the state and its people remain unchanged, the change in governance has led to a profound transformation."

The Chief Minister reminisced about the challenges Uttar Pradesh faced prior to 2017. "This was a state where farmers faced dire circumstances, youth grappled with identity challenges, and lawlessness was rampant. Today, this state is acknowledged as the driving force of the national economy," he stated.

Highlighting the revival of the agricultural sector, he mentioned a remarkable rise in the state's agricultural growth rate to 13.5 percent. "This growth has elevated Uttar Pradesh's GDP by 28 percent. One of our initial cabinet decisions was to waive farm loans totaling Rs 36,000 crore, offering crucial support to farmers," he added.

Discussing improvements in agricultural procurement, Yogi Adityanath noted, "From 2017 to 2023, wheat procurement surged two and a half times, with payments reaching Rs 43,424 crore. Furthermore, Rs 88,746 crore has been disbursed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for paddy procurement. Our administration has also safeguarded over 32 lakh hectares of land from flooding."

CM Yogi also underscored initiatives for the protection of stray cattle. "Over 12.5 lakh cows are housed in more than 7,700 cow shelters across the region. Through the Sahityog Yojana, 1.63 lakh cows have been allocated to 1.05 lakh cattle owners, each receiving Rs 1,500 monthly for their care," he noted.

During this event, Yogi Adityanath released a comprehensive booklet outlining the government's achievements over the last eight years. A documentary focusing on the administration's commitment to 'service, security, and good governance' was also presented.
