Prayagraj, Feb 10 (NationPress) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, accompanied by his family, performed a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam on Monday amidst the ongoing Maha Kumbh celebrations in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj.
This monumental religious festival kicked off on January 13 and will last until February 26, attracting millions of pilgrims from across India and around the globe.
Dhami arrived in Prayagraj on Sunday and inspected the Uttarakhand Mandapam, where provisions have been established for devotees from his state.
On X, he expressed, "I have complete faith that this Ganga of UCC flowing from Uttarakhand will open new pathways to equality, growth, and social justice throughout the nation in the near future. This initiative is vital for realizing the resolution of 'Viksit Bharat'."
He also participated in the 'Sammanta ke Saath Samrasata' program, addressing attendees from various states and receiving blessings from esteemed sants and gurus.
"Thanks to the blessings of revered sants and god-like figures, and the inspiration from our respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttarakhand has emerged as the first state in India to enforce the Uniform Civil Code (UCC)," Dhami noted.
President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to visit the Maha Kumbh later today, with security measures ramped up for the event. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had previously attended, taking a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam on February 5.
On Sunday, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar also took a sacred dip at the confluence. Both leaders expressed their appreciation to the Uttar Pradesh government for their hospitality and praised the arrangements.
Tamang commended the event organizers for fostering peace and unity, inspiring everyone to visit the Maha Kumbh at least once in their lifetime, while D.K. Shivakumar also acknowledged the extensive arrangements.
Various political figures have visited the Maha Kumbh. On Thursday, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini, and Haryana BJP chief Mohan Lal Badoli performed the holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, praising the government's initiatives.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari were also present at the event. Furthermore, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, along with his family, conducted the ritual at the Sangam on Saturday.
