Ahmedabad, Jan 11 (NationPress) The High Commissioner of Rwanda, Jacqueline Mukangira, praised the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference on Sunday, emphasizing the strengthening and cordial relationship between India and Rwanda.
Reflecting on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kigali in 2018, where he gifted 200 Gir cows to families in need, she conveyed her heartfelt gratitude for this noble act.
Mukangira pointed out that Rwanda’s President has made five visits to India, including attendance at the 2017 Vibrant Gujarat Summit, indicating the robust strategic framework in bilateral connections fostered by both nations' leadership.
She characterized Rwanda as one of Africa’s rapidly advancing economies, supported by a stringent zero-tolerance stance on corruption.
Highlighting an impressive 11.8 percent economic growth in the first quarter of 2025 and its leading position in Africa in the World Bank’s 2024 Ease of Doing Business report, she showcased the country’s remarkable governance and transparency.
Mukangira noted the escalating economic collaboration, stating that India is now Rwanda’s second-largest foreign investor and trading ally. Furthermore, she mentioned that Rwanda grants a visa-on-arrival to Indian citizens, allowing them to stay for one month, thereby promoting both business and cultural interactions.
Ukraine’s Ambassador, Oleksandr Polischuk, remarked that Prime Minister Modi has transformed from a national leader into an esteemed global figure. Participating in the Vibrant Gujarat event for the sixth time, he commended Modi’s initiatives for peace, particularly regarding Ukraine.
Polischuk emphasized that Ukraine’s post-war rebuilding offers substantial business avenues for Indian enterprises across various sectors, including energy, logistics, construction, agriculture, industry, and IT.
He expressed optimism for strong Indian involvement in the upcoming Ukraine Reconstruction Conference in Poland later this year.
He highlighted the enduring collaboration between India and Ukraine in traditional sectors such as grain, pharmaceuticals, and oil, which continue to bolster Ukraine’s economy.
Applauding Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel’s leadership, he stated that Ukraine is honored to be a partner nation in a global event like Vibrant Gujarat.
Initiated in 2003 by then Chief Minister Modi, Vibrant Gujarat has evolved into a premier global investors’ summit aimed at reestablishing Gujarat as an economic hub and a favored investment locale.
What started as a recovery initiative post-earthquake has transformed into one of India’s most influential business platforms, attracting global leaders, Fortune 500 executives, international institutions, and investors.
Over the years, the summit has broadened its focus from investment advocacy to innovation, technology, sustainability, and international partnerships.
It has significantly contributed to enhancing Gujarat’s manufacturing growth, infrastructure development, port-oriented progress, and MSME growth while also reinforcing India’s economic diplomacy.
