Vice President Dhankhar Emphasizes Last-Mile Healthcare Delivery Through Ayushman Bharat and Telemedicine

New Delhi, Jan 3 (NationPress) According to Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar, initiatives such as Ayushman Bharat and telemedicine are crucial in delivering healthcare directly to the populace across the nation.

He made these remarks while inaugurating mobile clinics in the capital.

He stated, “Quality healthcare, accessible healthcare, affordable healthcare have been a mission of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and over the last decade, he has brought about a significant transformation in this area,” emphasizing the importance of these initiatives.

Dhankhar noted that Prime Minister Modi has dedicated himself to ensuring effective last-mile healthcare delivery through programs like Ayushman Bharat and telemedicine.

The Ayushman Bharat scheme, recognized as one of the largest health programs globally, has provided financial relief to millions of citizens.

This scheme offers coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh for healthcare costs, with an additional Rs 5 lakh for senior citizens aged over 70, regardless of their economic background.

The telemedicine initiative has also proven to be extremely effective, according to the Vice President.

“Diagnostic tests and medical evaluations are now accessible through internet platforms,” he remarked, acknowledging the significant digital advancement in the country.

He further pointed out the value of mobile clinics, stating, “Having a mobile clinic within reach provides great comfort to individuals in need.”

Additionally, the Vice President reiterated that a Fit India initiative is essential for achieving a Viksit Bharat by 2047.

He stated, “We require facilities that guarantee early diagnosis, timely treatment, and on-site delivery of quality healthcare.”

This includes the doctor-to-population ratio, which has improved to 1:836.

He highlighted, “This is a remarkable accomplishment for a nation with a population of 1.4 billion.”

Vice President Dhankhar also mentioned the unprecedented growth in medical education, noting that the number of medical colleges has doubled, paramedical services have expanded, and diagnostic clinics are now available even in remote regions.
