Chennai, March 28 (NationPress) Actor and president of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), Vijay, is poised to submit his nomination papers on Monday, March 30, for the Perambur Assembly seat. This comes as he raises alarms regarding purported administrative bias in the lead-up to his campaign launch.

On Saturday, Vijay met with Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik at the State Secretariat, submitting an official complaint that details alleged denial of permissions and biased actions by election officials.

This meeting carries weight as Vijay gears up to officially embark on his electoral journey in what promises to be a closely monitored race in Perambur.

In his appeal, Vijay sought prompt approval for his campaign itinerary in Perambur and other regions of Tamil Nadu. He called upon the CEO to step in and guarantee a fair electoral landscape, asserting that some officials, including a District Election Officer, are favoring the ruling party.

Accompanying Vijay, senior TVK figure and former AIADMK minister K.A. Sengottaiyan expressed that a critical campaign event was canceled despite adhering to election protocols.

According to Sengottaiyan, the party had notified the event online 48 hours prior, as required. However, local authorities allegedly erected barricades and even excavated the venue, effectively halting the event.

“Initially, we were instructed to seek permission from the election officer. Subsequently, unexpected restrictions were imposed, leading to the event's cancellation,” Sengottaiyan stated, accusing officials of inconsistent practices.

He claimed that while other political entities received full administrative backing, TVK continuously faced obstacles in obtaining venues.

“Not a single venue we identified has been approved. This seems to be a calculated effort to hinder a leader emerging as a formidable candidate for the Chief Minister’s position,” he added.

Sources suggest that Vijay also urged the CEO to assess the conduct of certain officials and consider their replacement to ensure the impartial enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct.

With his nomination filing set for March 30, Vijay is anticipated to officially kick off his election campaign from Perambur shortly thereafter, laying the groundwork for a significant political debut in Tamil Nadu’s Assembly elections.
