Lucknow, Jan 15 (NationPress) A video featuring a woman attacking an auto driver in Uttar Pradesh's Mirzapur has gained significant attention online, allegedly stemming from a fare dispute. The woman, Priyanshi Pandey, contended that the driver used an inappropriate term regarding her, which sparked the altercation.

She also mentioned that she has been receiving threatening calls subsequent to the incident.

In the footage, Priyanshi Pandey is shown pulling auto driver Vimlesh Kumar Shukla from his seat while verbally abusing him. Despite Shukla's pleas with hands clasped in supplication, Pandey continues to strike him. She subsequently shared the video on her Instagram, where it quickly went viral. Following this, the auto driver lodged a police complaint against her, seeking justice.

The narratives of both the auto driver and the woman regarding the cause of the conflict are contradictory. Shukla recounted that the woman started assaulting him when he asked for payment after dropping her off. "When I dropped them off and asked for fare, they refused, claiming they were students. When I persisted, one of them grabbed my collar and handed her mobile to her sister to record it. I then stated I didn't want the fare. I had no physical contact with them," explained the auto driver.

Shukla voiced his embarrassment after the video went viral, stating, "They posted the video online and tarnished my reputation. I've been so humiliated that I wouldn't even be able to beg. I deserve justice," and noted that he sustained injuries to his chest.

Priyanshi Pandey, who boasts over 28,000 followers on Instagram, addressed the accusations in a video statement. She justified her actions, asserting, "The man used vulgar language towards me. That’s why I confronted him. Since then, I have been receiving threatening calls, which prompted me to upload the video from my personal account."

The Mirzapur police have initiated an investigation and registered a case. O.P. Singh, Additional Police Superintendent of Operations, stated that a case has been filed and action will be taken based on the findings that arise during the investigation.
