New Delhi, Nov 6 (NationPress) The Vice President and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, C. P. Radhakrishnan, officially administered the oath to Sat Paul Sharma and Rajinder Gupta as newly elected members within the Parliament House on Thursday, according to an official statement.
Union Ministers J. P. Nadda and Jitendra Singh, along with other prominent figures, attended the oath-taking ceremony for the two Rajya Sabha members.
Gupta, representing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), was elected as an MP from Punjab, while Sharma, who is affiliated with the BJP, secured his position in the Rajya Sabha from Jammu and Kashmir.
Sat Paul Sharma, currently the president of the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir, has a noteworthy political background, having previously served as a cabinet minister in the Jammu and Kashmir government and elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly from the Jammu West constituency in 2014.
A qualified chartered accountant, Sharma became a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India in 1986. Hailing from a Dogra Brahmin family in Jammu, he earned a B.Sc. degree from G.G.M. Science College, which is part of the University of Jammu.
Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University, Prof. P. Prakash Babu, met with the Vice President, who also serves as the ex officio Chancellor of the University.
During this meeting at Parliament House, a presentation was delivered concerning the University’s academic programs, infrastructure, student welfare initiatives, and efforts to enhance research and innovation.
In his remarks, the Vice President emphasized the importance of ensuring suitable facilities for students, introducing cutting-edge courses aligned with industry standards, maintaining cleanliness through the Swachh Bharat initiative, and guaranteeing seat reservations for SC/ST students.
