Kasauli, April 5 (NationPress) Lieutenant General Mohit Wadhwa, Chief of Staff, Western Command, on Saturday, encouraged students to adopt discipline, courage, and a strong sense of purpose in their lives.

While addressing students, educators, authors, military veterans, and literary enthusiasts, General Wadhwa praised the seamless execution of the two-day Military Literature Festival held at The Lawrence School in Sanawar. He remarked that a literature festival transcends mere storytelling about wars and battles; it embodies the spirit of a nation, reflecting the bravery of our soldiers.

“Sanawar holds a rich legacy of nurturing leaders and patriots. In today's world, our nation urgently requires young individuals who are not only academically proficient but also guided by values, integrity, and a commitment to service,” he stated.

By drawing comparisons between military life and the life of students, General Wadhwa emphasized that traits like perseverance, leadership, and resilience are vital in both fields.

He motivated students to overcome obstacles, envision grand aspirations, and strive tirelessly towards their objectives to realize the Prime Minister's vision for a Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Alongside the literature festival, a special book fair was organized, featuring a wide array of literature focused on military themes.

The fair included works authored by veterans, military historians, and defense specialists, providing profound insights into the lives, sacrifices, and experiences of armed forces personnel.

In addition, war veteran Colonel Bobby Grewal delivered an inspiring talk on the Battle of Basantar, one of the largest tank battles during the 1971 Indo-Pak war.

His vivid narration of the valor, strategy, and sacrifices of the heroes, many of whom were alumni of Sanawar, enthralled the audience, especially the students, who listened intently and gained valuable knowledge about India’s military history.

The lecture was succeeded by the Basantar Memorial Inter-School English Declamation Contest and a Poetry Composition Contest, which saw enthusiastic participation from leading schools across the nation.
