Young Indian Professionals Essential for Meeting Global Workforce Demands: Minister

New Delhi, Dec 7 (NationPress) The youth of India are the country's genuine treasure, as their talents and skills are acknowledged and valued on a global scale, stated Union Minister for Labour and Employment, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya.

In his speech during an event held in the national capital, the minister highlighted the crucial role Indian professionals play in meeting global workforce requirements.

The webinar, organized by the Ministry of Labour and Employment in partnership with the United Nations India, International Labour Organisation (ILO), and University Grants Commission (UGC), aimed to shed light on these contributions.

Dr Mandaviya encouraged attendees to explore internships or volunteer opportunities with international organizations, emphasizing that such experiences can enhance skills, broaden perspectives, and prepare young individuals for a variety of career challenges.

He also urged participants to take advantage of the National Career Service (NCS) Portal, which features over 3.7 million registered businesses searching for talented candidates.

The portal was described as a crucial resource for youth aspiring to discover career opportunities both nationally and internationally.

Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Shobha Karandlaje, noted that young people are a vital resource for development, serving as key agents of social change and as the driving force behind economic growth and technological innovation.

During the webinar, experts from the UN and ILO provided valuable insights into the skills and qualifications necessary for securing job opportunities within international organizations.

The experts detailed various opportunities within the UN system, including internships, volunteering programs, consultancies, and young professionals' programs, alongside explanations of the application procedures and required competencies.

“Additionally, the UN Jobs Portal was explained, offering comprehensive guidance on navigating the portal and applying for available positions,” stated the ministry.

Sumita Dawra, Secretary (Labour and Employment), emphasized the unique potential of the nation's unmatched demographic dividend.

She also announced plans to enhance this initiative by organizing more such webinars to ensure greater outreach and impact among the youth across the country and those studying abroad.
