Maharashtra Youth Detained for Defamatory Video Against CM Fadnavis Related to Ajit Pawar Plane Incident
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, April 8 (NationPress) A young man from the Jalna district in Maharashtra has been apprehended for supposedly producing and disseminating a controversial video on social platforms that slandered Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis while propagating falsehoods about a plane crash involving former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
The Cyber Cell of the Western Regional Division Police tracked down the suspect, identified as Uddhav Bhagwan Kapse. Following his arrest, he was transported to Mumbai for additional legal processes. A local court in Bandra has placed him in police custody until April 10.
As per the Mumbai Police, the offensive video shared by Kapse had amassed approximately 150,000 views on social media before being removed. Investigations indicated that the video featured misleading and defamatory information aimed at the Chief Minister while distorting facts concerning the alleged plane crash.
In response to the viral material, senior officials ordered the Cyber Cell to initiate a case. The police ensured the video was taken down and filed an FIR against an unidentified person for distributing false and objectionable content, damaging the reputation of public figures.
During the inquiry, technical analysis traced the video back to the Jalna district. Acting on this lead, a police team arrested Kapse from Buttegaon village.
Police representatives revealed that Kapse is a Buttegaon resident who has completed education up to Class 10 and resides with his parents. During interrogation, he allegedly admitted to crafting and sharing the video using AI tools after gathering available footage.
After his arrest, Kapse was presented to a Bandra court on Tuesday afternoon, where he was remanded to three days of police custody. Ongoing investigations aim to determine whether he acted independently or was influenced or assisted by others.
In the meantime, on March 26, CM Devendra Fadnavis remarked that the zero FIR registered in Bengaluru regarding the plane crash that resulted in the death of then Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on January 28 was purportedly a scheme by the Congress-led Karnataka government to 'discredit' the state.
