New Delhi, Feb 26 (NationPress) On Thursday, Delhi Police disclosed that three Youth Congress members apprehended in the AI Summit shirtless protest incident are not originally from Himachal Pradesh.

This revelation follows a prolonged standoff that lasted 24 hours between the Delhi and Himachal Pradesh Police, culminating in the latter permitting Delhi Police to assume custody of the three Youth Congress activists arrested in relation to the protest and transport them to the national capital.

According to sources from Delhi Police, the arrested Youth Congress members include Saurabh from Amethi in Uttar Pradesh, Arbaaz from Sultanpur, and Siddharth from Rewa.

None of these individuals hail from Himachal Pradesh. Authorities stated that all three had fled after the protest and were hiding out in Himachal Pradesh.

Of the three apprehended individuals, two were present at the protest, while one was reportedly involved in orchestrating the plan.

The day prior, Himachal Police initiated a kidnapping case against their counterparts in Delhi and “detained” their vehicles at the Shogi border near Shimla, alongside the three Youth Congress activists while en route to Delhi.

In a late-night update, the three individuals, along with Delhi Police personnel, were taken to the residence of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Ekansh Kapil after undergoing medical evaluations at Deendyal Upadhyay Zonal Hospital, where they received transit remand.

Subsequently, some Delhi Police officers were held in the state capital, while a few were allowed to return to the national capital with the accused.

The remaining officers were instructed to remain behind and assist with the investigation concerning the kidnapping claims against them.

The Himachal Police “confiscated” a vehicle belonging to the Delhi Police that contained CCTV footage and other pertinent evidence. However, the Delhi Police contended that the “confiscated” vehicle carried crucial digital evidence, documentation, and weaponry.

The apprehended activists originated from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

At least 20 personnel from Delhi Police were detained on Wednesday for the arrest of the Youth Congress leaders in Rohru town located in Shimla district.

A team from Delhi Police had traveled to Rohru, apprehended the Youth Congress activists, and was heading back to Delhi when they were halted near Dharampur town in Solan district by state police, leading to their detention. The arrest of the officers was carried out by the Shimla Police.

Congress legislator Kuldeep Rathore has called for stringent action against the Delhi Police from the state government, describing the police's actions against the Youth Congress workers as an effort to stifle their voices.

“Conducting raids without a warrant is a blatant infringement of privacy,” Rathore stated in a press release on Wednesday. He also criticized the Central government, asserting that the nation is not the possession of a singular party. “In a democracy, governments may change, but the opposition's role is to voice the concerns of the populace,” he added.
