New Delhi, Feb 26 (NationPress) A court in Delhi has ordered that five Youth Congress members, detained in relation to the protest at the India AI Impact Summit, be held in police custody for three days.

Those remanded include Saurabh, Arbaaz, Siddharth, Ajay, and Raja Gurjar, who are required to appear again in court on March 1.

Among the accused, Saurabh, Arbaaz, and Siddharth were apprehended in Himachal Pradesh and subsequently brought to Delhi, while Ajay and Raja Gurjar were already in custody connected to the case.

A significant standoff occurred previously between the Delhi and Himachal Pradesh police when three Youth Congress activists were detained in Rohru, Shimla district.

The Himachal Police filed a kidnapping complaint against Delhi Police and briefly detained them near the Shoghi border before a local court arranged for a transit remand.

Following legal procedures, the three individuals—Saurabh, Arbaaz, and Siddharth—were transferred to the national capital.

Delhi Police asserts that none of them are residents of Himachal Pradesh and that they had allegedly gone into hiding post-protest.

Among the three, two actively participated in the protest, while one is said to have been involved in planning the event.

Previously, on February 21, four Youth Congress members were placed in police custody for five days after their arrest during the protest at the summit.

On February 24, Uday Bhanu Chib, the National President of the Indian Youth Congress, was also remanded to four days of police custody after his arrest related to the incident.

According to law enforcement, Chib did not cooperate during questioning and was unable to provide information regarding the absconding co-accused and the origin of the T-shirts utilized in the protest.

The protest has sparked a political controversy, with the Bharatiya Janata Party condemning it as an effort to damage India's international reputation, while the Congress party insists it was a non-violent demonstration raising awareness of youth issues.

Point of View

The Congress party frames it as a necessary expression of youth concerns. This incident underscores the importance of understanding political expression in a democratic society.
