YSR Congress Claims Continuous Red Sanders Smuggling Under NDA Governance

Amaravati, Dec 16 (NationPress) The YSR Congress Party, the principal opposition in Andhra Pradesh, stated on Monday that the smuggling of red sanders is persisting unchecked under the leadership of the TDP-led NDA government, while it was effectively managed during their rule.
YSRCP representative Putta Sivasanakar Reddy informed reporters that there are currently no check-posts or raids targeting red sanders smugglers, contrasting with the strict measures taken when Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was in office.
He mentioned that the previous administration even invoked the Preventive Detention Act to combat red sanders smuggling.
During Peddiredi Ramchandra Reddy's tenure as Forest Minister, forest rangers were adequately equipped for efficient operations, and the auction of confiscated red sanders generated revenue, he added.
According to the YSRCP spokesperson, since N. Chandrababu Naidu took over as Chief Minister, there have been no prosecutions against smugglers. He accused smugglers of operating under the guise of TDP supporters and using heritage vehicles to transport the illicit goods. He claimed that logs of red sanders were previously discovered in his hometown.
Sivasankar Reddy stated that during Naidu's last term, red sanders smuggling was widespread, with a leader from Kurnool profiting significantly from it. He alleged that this leader financed a film using ill-gotten gains and subsequently married the film's heroine.
The coalition government, he claimed, has been disseminating misleading information to distract the public from its shortcomings and urged Forest Minister Pawan Kalyan to clarify what actions have been taken to combat the smuggling of forest resources.
Data indicates that red sanders smuggling was rampant during the TDP regime but was curtailed after Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy assumed office, he asserted.
In another development, former MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy criticized the coalition government's undemocratic and retaliatory actions.
He alleged that in a blatant act of political vendetta, the government sought to dismantle the River View resort at Sri Kalahasthi under false pretenses, despite valid permissions being in effect.
Former MLA and senior YSRCP figure Madhusudhan Reddy intervened to halt this unjust action, according to Karunakar Reddy, who added that the government has filed fabricated charges against him, wrongly alleging that he obstructed officials.
This incident is part of a broader strategy to suppress YSRCP leaders who actively challenge the government's unjust practices, he explained. Madhusudhan Reddy, a vocal critic of governmental abuses, has been unfairly targeted. Lawyers presented conclusive evidence of the restaurant's permissions, disproving the government’s unfounded claims.
"We stand firmly with former MLA Madhusudhan Reddy and all those opposing these undemocratic actions. The party will persist in its fight for justice and the preservation of the democratic rights of the state's citizens," Karunakar Reddy stated.
