Amaravati, Feb 1 (NationPress) The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has criticized Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for failing to exert pressure on the Central Government to secure more benefits for the state in the Union Budget 2025-26, allowing Bihar to gain the upper hand.
YSR Congress leader and former finance minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy stated that Naidu's remarks on the Budget are oblivious to the inequalities when compared to Bihar.
Despite the fact that the total outlay of the Union Budget has exceeded Rs 50 lakh crore for the first time, Naidu needs to clarify why Bihar, which has 12 MPs, received more benefits while the TDP, with 16 MPs, fell short.
He accused Naidu of repeating previous mistakes related to the Polavaram dam height.
The Budget indicated that revised costs are for completion, which disadvantages the state and mirrors the errors made in 2017, he asserted.
Naidu has once again made errors concerning the Polavaram project, he remarked.
"While Bihar secured infrastructure, institutions, airports, and projects, why was there no pressure exerted to garner more benefits for our state? There are four ports in our state, yet no allocations were made for their further enhancement," Rajendranath Reddy expressed.
The YSR Congress leader urged the coalition government to apply pressure on the Centre for additional projects and assistance, emphasizing that the MPs from the state are more significant to the Centre in this term compared to 2019-2024 when the BJP was stronger on its own.
He also pointed out that the Union Budget reflects the priorities of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's government in education and agriculture.
Noting that Jagan Mohan Reddy planned to introduce 17 medical colleges in phases, with five already completed, he claimed that the Centre is now focusing on medical education.
He alleged that the coalition government in the state is not advancing the initiatives proposed by YSR Congress leaders.
When Jagan Mohan Reddy implemented reforms in the education sector and digitized education through the distribution of tablets, the TDP opposed it, but now the same policy is reflected in the Budget, indicating that our leader was ahead of his time, he concluded.
