Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Ahmedabad, Feb 5 (NationPress) In a groundbreaking achievement, Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) has emerged as the first company in India, and possibly globally, to successfully deliver 1 crore electricity smart meters across various discoms. The next 1 crore is anticipated to be delivered in the upcoming financial year (FY27).
As India’s foremost AMISP (Advanced Metering Infrastructure Service Provider), AESL is tasked with installing 2.5 crore smart meters across five states.
With an impressive installation rate of 25,000 meters per day, AESL leads the industry in pace, according to the company's statements.
“Achieving an installed base of 1 crore smart meters showcases our commitment to execution excellence and our deep collaboration with distribution utilities and consumers,” stated Kandarp Patel, CEO of Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL).
“These smart meters serve not merely as devices — they act as catalysts for empowering consumers with real-time usage data, enhancing grid reliability, reducing losses, and facilitating efficient energy management. We are dedicated to playing a crucial role in India’s transition towards a digital energy landscape,” he added.
This milestone has been achieved well ahead of the company’s projection to reach the 1 crore mark by March 31, 2026, highlighting AESL’s resolve to drive digital transformation in the essential retail electricity distribution sector by providing invaluable consumption data and supporting grid modernization as part of India’s nationwide smart metering initiative under the Government of India’s Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).
AESL’s network of smart meters provides real-time consumer insights, promotes billing transparency, and enhances utility operations.
The Adani Group company has achieved this remarkable installation rate by adopting an integrated ecosystem approach.
Collaborating with sister firms such as Adani Esyasoft Smart Solutions’ smart metering and IoT division, and AdaniConneX for local data management, as well as partnering with tier I meter brands, has been pivotal in ensuring timely delivery and maintaining platform relevance.
Beginning its smart metering journey in 2024, AESL has reached this significant milestone in approximately 24 months, marking it as the fastest installation rate in the nation.
Under the RDSS initiative, India aims to replace 25 crore conventional meters with advanced smart meters to modernize the power distribution sector.
