New Delhi, Nov 4 (NationPress) Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently assessed the ongoing developments related to the Ahmedabad Station redevelopment and the High-Speed Rail initiative, confirming that the construction of the bullet train station in Ahmedabad is at an advanced stage.
Currently, over 1,300 railway stations nationwide are being redeveloped, with Ahmedabad being one of the significant hubs. Work on the Bullet Train initiative on the Saraspur side is advancing swiftly, and the Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail station is nearing completion, as reported by Western Railway (WR).
“Ahmedabad Station Redevelopment is on the fast track! MMTH: Structural framework featuring 2 basements and 4 floors is approaching completion. Elevated Road: 38/41 piers and 154/253 girders have been launched. Bullet Train Ahmedabad Station: Construction is at an advanced stage,” Vaishnaw shared on the X social media platform.
The Bullet Train station and the Ahmedabad railway station are being developed as a cohesive complex, offering passengers seamless transfer options. Additionally, he noted that three more platforms will be introduced at Ahmedabad station, further boosting its operational capacity.
The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train is anticipated to commence operations by 2029, and the 50-km segment of India’s inaugural high-speed rail corridor between Surat and Bilimora in Gujarat is expected to be available by 2027.
In September, Vaishnaw inspected the ongoing construction at Surat station, including track installation and the first turnout. He stated that travelers will be able to travel between Mumbai and Ahmedabad in just two hours and seven minutes on the bullet trains, a significant reduction from the nine hours indicated on Google Maps.
The minister emphasized the employment of modern technology to ensure safety, including vibration damping systems along the track and specialized safety precautions to withstand high winds and seismic activity.
The 508 km-long Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor marks India’s first bullet train project. The minister also hinted at plans for four additional bullet train corridors in other areas of the country, as detailed in the BJP manifesto.
