Key Takeaways
Amaravati, April 3 (NationPress) - The capital city of Andhra Pradesh is poised to act as a crucial growth engine, propelling the state towards a remarkable $2.4 trillion economy by the year 2047, as stated by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu during a press briefing on Friday.
In his address, he confidently declared that the development of Amaravati is inevitable and cannot be hindered.
He expressed optimism that all significant projects in the state capital will reach completion by 2028, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to inaugurate key developments in 2029. Modi had laid the cornerstone for Amaravati in 2015 and resumed construction efforts last year.
Naidu emphasized that with the passage of the Bill in Parliament, Amaravati is now on an unstoppable trajectory.
He hailed the approval of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill 2026 by both Houses of Parliament as a triumph for the 50 million residents advocating for Amaravati as the 'people's capital.'
To commemorate this milestone, the Chief Minister distributed sweets at his official residence. He noted that all parties, except the YSR Congress, supported the Bill, which aims to grant legal recognition to Amaravati as the exclusive and enduring capital of Andhra Pradesh.
Naidu expressed astonishment at the YSR Congress Party's opposition to the Bill, criticizing their representatives who were elected from Andhra Pradesh for not safeguarding the people's interests.
The president of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) also extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, along with MPs from various parties, including the Lok Sabha Speaker and Rajya Sabha Chairman, for their backing of the Amaravati Bill.
He pointed out that while the nation rallied in support of Amaravati's Bill in Parliament, the YSR Congress has consistently opposed it and attempted to undermine the capital's development under the guise of promoting three capitals.
He asserted that the YSR Congress is still working to obstruct progress in Amaravati.
Naidu stated that states governed by regional parties should respect the Bills passed by Parliament and expressed bewilderment over the YSR Congress's comments about potentially relocating the capital if they gain power.
He accused the previous administration of neglecting the issue of state bifurcation and plunging the state into substantial debt by mortgaging government assets during its tenure.
Despite facing financial challenges, the Chief Minister affirmed that the coalition government is dedicated to development and welfare, strategically balancing these through short-term, mid-term, and long-term planning.
