Amaravati, Nov 28 (NationPress) - Andhra Pradesh's Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, announced on Friday that the development of the state capital is progressing rapidly and expressed confidence that all work will conclude by March 2028.
He emphasized that Amaravati will be designed to make India proud, asserting that with the support of farmers, the Central government, and a robust plan, the capital's development is certain to proceed without hindrance.
Alongside Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, he inaugurated the foundation stone for the regional headquarters of public sector banks and insurance firms in Amaravati.
The Chief Minister reported that the state government has initiated projects worth Rs. 56,000 crore in Amaravati. The Seed Access Road is nearing completion, and seven national highways have been linked to the city. Additionally, a railway line is under construction to connect to Amaravati.
He mentioned that prestigious universities like VIT, SRM, NID, and BITS Pilani are establishing campuses in Amaravati. The region is also developing a Quantum Valley. New policies such as Green Cover and Net Zero are being implemented in both Amaravati and the state.
Naidu noted that construction was vigorous during TDP's governance from 2014 to 2019, but faced setbacks for five years thereafter. He stated that reconstruction efforts resumed under the coalition government, facilitated by the Prime Minister.
He acknowledged the acceleration of capital construction and expressed gratitude to the Union Finance Minister for her assistance. The Centre has allocated Rs 15,000 crore for capital reconstruction.
CM Naidu reaffirmed that the Centre has fully supported revitalizing the state’s economy post-destruction caused by the previous administration. However, he indicated that further financial improvements are necessary.
He appealed to banks and financial institutions for collaboration in developing both the state and Amaravati.
Reflecting on the state’s formation amid numerous challenges, Naidu highlighted the bifurcation that left no capital, where knowledge economy was primarily centralized in Hyderabad. The previous government’s actions caused significant setbacks to Amaravati.
“We began state construction from scratch. We aim to finish Polavaram by 2027 and shape Amaravati by 2028. The Centre has sustained the Visakhapatnam Steel, which is vital to the people. The Google Data Centre is coming to Visakhapatnam due to the Prime Minister’s support,” he added.
The Chief Minister honored the sacrifices of Amaravati’s farmers, acknowledging their struggles for the capital’s development.
He noted that 29,000 farmers contributed 34,000 acres of land, making Amaravati unique in its implementation of a land pooling policy.
Naidu pointed out that previous government policies prevented farmers from receiving their due capital gains, advocating for an extension of the capital gains deadline. “We must ensure farmers benefit from capital gains. I urge the Union Finance Minister to address this issue positively,” he stated.
He mentioned that the construction of Polavaram also resumed once the coalition took power, thanking the Centre for approving Rs 1,000 crore for a new diaphragm wall.
