This decision heralds a much-needed stability for our state, ushering in a new era of empowerment, confidence, and progress for every resident of Andhra Pradesh. Amaravati’s position as the capital is now unassailable, beyond any doubt or debate. Amaravati is unstoppable, the heart of Andhra Pradesh and a future pride of the nation,” he stated.
The leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) expressed sincere thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his unwavering support and commitment to the state's aspirations.
“He has stood firm with Amaravati at every critical juncture, from laying its foundation stone on October 22, 2015, to revitalizing its development and reaffirming its vision on May 2, 2025,” he noted.
Chandrababu Naidu also expressed gratitude to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Government of India for their essential role in advancing this initiative. He acknowledged all parties and Members of Parliament whose support transcended differences to reaffirm Amaravati as the sole Praja Rajadhani.
The Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which grants statutory recognition to Amaravati as the sole and permanent capital of Andhra Pradesh, was successfully passed by the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.
Rajya Sabha Chairman, C.P. Radhakrishnan, announced the Bill's passage through a voice vote, accompanied by enthusiastic applause from members. He extended congratulations on behalf of the House and the people of the entire nation to Andhra Pradesh.
Members of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) celebrated the Bill's approval with slogans.
