Amaravati, May 2 (NationPress) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu stated on Friday that the support from the Centre for the development of the state capital, Amaravati, is truly unforgettable.
As the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi approaches for the re-launch of Amaravati capital projects, Naidu took to social media platform X to extend a cordial welcome.
"Today is a moment of pride and significance for the citizens of Andhra Pradesh. I extend a warm welcome to Prime Minister Modi Ji as he arrives to recommence the development of our people's capital," he posted.
"Amaravati symbolizes our collective aspirations and dreams. This recommencement heralds a new era of growth for our state," he added.
Naidu, whose Telugu Desam Party (TDP) plays a crucial role in the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre, emphasized that the assistance from the Central government in realizing the dream capital of the populace is unforgettable. "Amaravati is set to become a people’s capital that will generate jobs and employment opportunities for every resident of the state. It will serve as a catalyst for the state’s wealth creation," he stated.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan also welcomed the Prime Minister ahead of his arrival to resume the construction of Amaravati. "I express my deep gratitude for initiating the reconstruction of Amaravati, the people’s capital, which is developing as a reflection of the aspirations of five crore citizens of Andhra Pradesh," noted the Jana Sena leader.
The Prime Minister is expected to arrive in Amaravati at 3.20 p.m. to lay the foundation for works worth Rs 49,040 crore in Amaravati, including five towers of the Amaravati Government Complex, the High Court, and the Legislative Assembly building.
Additionally, he will lay the foundation stone for various projects and inaugurate others worth Rs 57,962 crore related to the DRDO, DPIIT, NHAI, and the Railways.
The state government has made extensive arrangements for the public meeting, which anticipates attendance from lakhs of individuals.
On October 22, 2015, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for Amaravati.
Some developmental works were initiated by the then TDP government. However, the progress stalled after the TDP lost power in 2019, as the YSR Congress Party government led by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy opted to develop three state capitals.
This faced significant opposition from farmers in 29 villages in Amaravati who had contributed their lands for the capital's development.
Following the TDP-led NDA's return to power last June, Chief Minister Naidu decided to resume work on his visionary project.
