Amaravati, April 7 (NationPress) The long-anticipated dream of the residents of Andhra Pradesh has finally come true as Amaravati is now officially designated as the state capital, according to Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Tuesday.

In response to the gazette notification released by the Government of India, Pawan Kalyan shared his thoughts on ‘X’, affirming that Amaravati stands as the capital of Andhra Pradesh.

“Andhra Pradesh is no longer a state without a capital… no longer facing an uncertain future. April 6th will be remembered in history as the day Amaravati was officially acknowledged as the capital of Andhra Pradesh. This historic moment follows the passing of the Bill in Parliament and the subsequent Gazette Notification from the Government of India, along with the approval from the Hon’ble President of Bharat, marking the fulfillment of this long-desired aspiration of the people of Andhra Pradesh,” the leader of Jana Sena stated.

He expressed gratitude towards President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for making this momentous occasion a reality.

“This achievement is dedicated to the farmers who made sacrifices and to the citizens who remained steadfast in their determination. After a lengthy separation of 12 years, Andhra Pradesh finally has its capital officially recognized by the Government of India. Let us now transcend the uncertainties and disruptions of the past, and unite to develop Amaravati, the people's capital, laying a robust foundation for future generations and guiding our state towards the vision of Swarna Andhra 2047,” the Deputy CM emphasized.

Earlier, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, representing the people of Andhra Pradesh, extended heartfelt thanks to President Droupadi Murmu for her approval of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Act, 2026.

“I express my gratitude to the Union Government led by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji for his unwavering support for our state, all MPs who backed the Bill, our state leaders, and every citizen who stood with us. This is a triumph for the people of Andhra Pradesh, especially our farmers in Amaravati,” he mentioned in a post late on Monday.

On Tuesday, the Chief Minister shared the gazette notification and stated: “The capital of Andhra Pradesh is Amaravati.”

State Minister for Human Resources Development and Information Technology Nara Lokesh, BJP MP Daggubati Purandeswari, and various leaders from TDP, Jana Sena, and BJP have celebrated the gazette notification.
