Inaugurated on September 23, 2018, AB PM-JAY stands as the world’s largest health insurance program, ensuring accessible and affordable healthcare for the general populace.
The AB PM-JAY offers health coverage of ₹5 lakh per family annually for secondary and tertiary hospitalization, benefiting around 55 crore individuals. This includes 12.37 crore families representing the economically disadvantaged bottom 40 percent of India’s population.
In his article, Nadda outlined the “immense progress” achieved through the Ayushman Bharat scheme and emphasized the importance of integrating more private sector hospitals, particularly in underserved regions, “to enhance access, foster competition, and elevate standards.”
“As we commemorate seven years of #AyushmanBharat, our vision is to ensure that every Indian enjoys equal access to high-quality healthcare, irrespective of income or location. The challenge is vast, but our determination is resolute,” Nadda stated on X.
“In the future, Ayushman Bharat will symbolize Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision, the government's dedication, and the nation's commitment to safeguarding public health,” he added.
