New Delhi, March 28 (NationPress) The state-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) announced on Friday that it has successfully acquired a significant contract valued at ₹11,800 crore from the Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company (CSPGCL).

The company revealed in a stock exchange report that it has obtained a Letter of Intent (LoI) for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) package of the 2x660 MW Korba West Supercritical Thermal Power Plant (STTP).

“BHEL has received the LOI for an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) package of two 660 megawatt 'Supercritical' thermal power plants located at Hasdeo Thermal Power Station in the Korba District of Chhattisgarh,” the company noted in its exchange statement.

As part of this contract, BHEL will provide cutting-edge supercritical equipment, including boilers, turbines, and generators, as well as auxiliary systems.

Furthermore, the company will manage electrical systems, control and instrumentation (C&I), and balance of plant (BoP) components.

BHEL will also oversee erection, commissioning, and civil works. “The project is projected to be operational within the next 60 months,” the firm added.

This contract represents another major achievement for BHEL, strengthening its robust presence in India’s power sector.

Following this announcement, BHEL’s stock experienced a 2.7 percent increase during the intra-day session on Friday. The stock has risen over 22 percent in the past month, demonstrating a strong recovery after reaching a 52-week low of ₹176 on March 3.

Last week, the company secured a ₹7,500 crore order from Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GESCL) for an EPC package at the 1x800 MW Ukai Extension Unit 7 in Tapi, Gujarat.

Last month, BHEL also obtained a ₹6,700 crore order from Singareni Collieries to establish an 800 MW thermal power unit in Telangana.

During the same month, it also secured a ₹6,200 crore contract from Damodar Valley Corporation. These series of large orders have significantly enhanced BHEL’s order book, which totaled ₹1.6 lakh crore by the end of Q3 FY25.
