Empowering the Next Generation & Promoting Innovation Essential for Viksit Bharat: Jitendra Singh

Guwahati, Nov 30 (NationPress) Empowering the youth of the nation through research and enhancing innovation is essential for India as it approaches Viksit Bharat by 2047, remarked Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh on Saturday.

This statement was made during the 10th edition of the India International Science Festival 2024 (IISF 2024) in Guwahati, Assam, organized in collaboration with Vijnana Bharathi, with the CSIR-National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (CSIR-NIIST) in Thiruvananthapuram serving as the nodal institute for the event.

The four-day festival aims to popularize science and technology across various communities.

During the event, a centralized platform was launched, which will serve as a repository for information related to science, technology, and innovation.

The India Science, Technology & Innovation (ISTI) portal will offer access to important information regarding fellowships, scholarships, funding opportunities, and startup initiatives, allowing students, scientists, researchers, youth, and the public to discover and utilize opportunities available in the country.

While introducing the platform, Singh noted that India has experienced a significant evolution in startups, biotechnology, space technology, and quantum science over the past decade.

“India’s impressive growth narrative is fundamentally linked to its progress in science, technology, and innovation. In the last ten years, under the insightful guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, we have witnessed a remarkable transformation across sectors—ranging from the proliferation of startups to groundbreaking achievements in biotechnology, space technology, and quantum science,” stated Singh, the Minister of State for Science and Technology.

“As we approach India@2047, empowering youth and promoting innovation is crucial. Initiatives such as the National Research Foundation and the bio-economy revolution are propelling India towards self-sufficiency and global leadership, with young innovators at the forefront,” he added.

IISF 2024 is anticipated to draw more than 8,000 delegates, researchers, and prominent scientific organizations, in addition to around 10,000 students from schools and colleges, fostering collaboration and innovation across disciplines.

The event will also showcase exhibitions, workshops, and interactive sessions, establishing IISF 2024 as a source of inspiration, bridging science, society, and innovation in a significant manner.
