New Delhi, Sep 25 (NationPress) Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) announced on Thursday that it has reached a remarkable milestone of 200,000 cumulative units exported from India.
Honda initiated its export journey in India by sending limited units to nearby markets.
The initial 50,000 units were primarily exported to neighboring South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries, South Africa, and Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries until 2021.
The subsequent 50,000 units were exported over a span of 2.5 years, broadening the company’s presence in left-hand drive markets such as the Middle East, Mexico, and Turkey for the Honda City.
“In recent years, HCIL has experienced a notable increase in export volume, with the next 100,000 units exported within just 2 years, fueled by the demand for its mid-size SUV Elevate in emerging markets like Japan, South America, and Caribbean nations,” the company stated.
“Reaching the 200,000 export units milestone brings immense pride to Honda Cars India. This achievement highlights the global recognition of our India-made vehicles and reflects our skilled teams' commitment and strong manufacturing capabilities,” remarked Kunal Behl, Vice President of Marketing & Sales at Honda Cars India Ltd.
Exports play a vital role in HCIL’s business and revenue strategy, and we remain focused on enhancing this aspect in the future. We are committed to the ‘Make in India’ initiative, catering to both our domestic market and international clientele, he added.
The primary models that contributed to this growth include the popular Honda City and the adaptable Honda Elevate, which together accounted for 78 percent of the total export volume.
The remaining 22 percent consists of a variety of models such as the Brio, Amaze, Jazz, BR-V, Mobilio, City e: HEV, Accord, and CR-V.
The automaker revealed that it has sent vehicles to 33 countries across different regions throughout the years. Japan accounted for the largest share at 30 percent, followed by South Africa and SADC countries at 26 percent, Mexico at 19 percent, and Turkey at 16 percent.
The remaining 9 percent share included nations in the Middle East, the SAARC region, the Caribbean, and South America.
This accomplishment underscores Honda’s robust manufacturing capabilities in India and its dedication to providing high-quality products to customers globally, stated Honda Cars India.
