New Delhi, Oct 25 (NationPress) The Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana is set to integrate 36 schemes from 11 central ministries to provide extensive benefits to farmers, as stated by Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, on Saturday.
During his visit to the ICAR–Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in Vellore, Chouhan emphasized the theme of unity and integrated growth within India's agriculture sector under the motto “One Agriculture – One Nation – One Team.”
At Vellore, Singh engaged with farmers and members of the rural community, discussing the Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PM-DDKY), National Pulses Mission, National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF), Cluster Frontline Demonstration on Pulses (CFLD on Pulses), Fermented Organic Manure (FOM/LFOM), and other initiatives related to KVKs, according to a statement from the Ministry of Agriculture.
Additionally, the union minister collected feedback from farmers regarding agricultural, animal husbandry, and fisheries schemes, while advising them on best practices. During the ‘Chaupal’ dialogue, he gathered insights on various schemes and interacted with farmers from surrounding districts.
In the first ‘Chaupal’, Chouhan spoke with farmers from Tamil Nadu’s Virudhunagar, Sivaganga, Thoothukudi, and Ramanathapuram districts connected to PM-DDKY.
These districts fall under the Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana.
Chouhan highlighted that this scheme integrates 36 schemes from 11 central ministries to provide wide-ranging benefits to farmers.
He reviewed the convergence progress of the scheme with leaders of the four participating KVKs.
In the second ‘Chaupal’, Shri Shivraj Singh placed a strong focus on natural farming and the National Pulses Mission, asserting that this unique initiative, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will enable the country to achieve self-sufficiency in pulses production.
He noted that states like Tamil Nadu will significantly benefit from this mission through enhanced varieties, cutting-edge technology, and assured marketing. He also commended the advanced pulse varieties developed by the National Pulses Research Centre, Vamban, under TNAU.
