Chennai, Feb 28 (NationPress) In a significant initiative to enhance technology-driven governance, the Tamil Nadu Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Corporation (TNUAVC), operating under the Higher Education Department, has begun forming partnerships with drone manufacturers and service providers throughout India to establish a robust drone ecosystem within the State.

This corporation was created to fulfill the drone-related operational needs of various state government sectors, aiming to implement cutting-edge aerial solutions to boost governance effectiveness and improve public service delivery.

Officials have reported that this initiative is intended to integrate drone technology into essential areas such as municipal administration, agriculture, law enforcement, forest management, water resource management, and disaster response.

A senior representative from the Higher Education Department noted that TNUAVC has initiated the process of empaneling qualified drone manufacturing companies and service providers with established expertise.

"Vendors must possess a functioning drone manufacturing facility and have supplied a minimum of five drones to government entities," the official stated.

"Moreover, the manufacturer should hold certification from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for research and development purposes."

The corporation is also prioritizing the onboarding of service providers with practical operational experience.

According to the officials, companies offering drone-based services like aerial mapping, land surveys, crop monitoring, and precision spraying will be considered for partnership.

"Service providers must have a proven track record of executing government projects utilizing drone technology," the official added.

As part of the selection process, TNUAVC will thoroughly examine the past performance of these companies, including the states where they have delivered services.

An expert committee will review applications before finalizing contracts with selected manufacturers and service providers.

This initiative aligns with Tamil Nadu's broader vision of becoming a hub for technology and innovation, particularly in emerging sectors such as unmanned systems and advanced robotics.

By establishing a structured ecosystem that connects manufacturing, research, and practical applications, the State government aims to foster indigenous drone innovation while ensuring adherence to regulations and operational safety.

Officials believe that the strategic integration of drone technology across various departments will not only enhance efficiency and transparency but also contribute to improved disaster preparedness, agricultural productivity, and urban development throughout Tamil Nadu.
