New Delhi, Sep 23 (NationPress) The Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Jagat Prakash Nadda, emphasized the importance of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) staying vigilant to the evolving food habits and market dynamics, necessitating updates to food safety standards.
During an event at Nirman Bhawan, the Minister introduced the logo of the Global Food Regulators Summit (GFRS) 2025 along with its brochure. This summit is set to take place from September 26-27 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, in conjunction with the World Food India 2025 event organized by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI).
In his keynote address, Nadda recognized the essential contributions of FSSAI and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in enhancing food safety standards in India while significantly impacting global advancements in this crucial field.
“A multi-dimensional approach must be adopted to ensure that the food we consume is safe and healthy. Food regulators should be responsive to shifting food habits and market trends. Food safety standards, rules, and regulations should be revised accordingly,” the Minister stated.
Highlighting this year’s GFRS theme, “Evolving Food Systems- Yatha Annam Tatha Manah”, the Health Minister expressed how it beautifully illustrates the deep connection between food quality and the health of individuals and society.
“Food transcends mere nourishment; it is a vital force that influences physical wellness, mental health, emotional stability, and social cohesion,” he asserted.
“The Summit will serve as a distinctive platform for global regulators to exchange insights, unify standards, enhance risk assessment abilities, and investigate new technological advancements in food safety. The goal is to safeguard consumer health while promoting fair trade, innovation, and sustainable food systems that benefit everyone,” Nadda remarked.
The Summit will also feature the launch of the ‘Eat Right Thali’ book, an important initiative by FSSAI that celebrates India's rich culinary diversity and balanced diets.
This publication highlights traditional thalis from every state, each representing local ingredients, cooking techniques, and age-old dietary wisdom, offering a balance of flavors and nutrition.
In alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, it emphasizes traditional diets as a strategy against obesity and lifestyle-related diseases. This collection is both a cultural homage and a guide for preventive health through conscious, indigenous eating.
