New Delhi, Jan 26 (NationPress) A total of 364 elite shooters, including Olympic medalists, World and Asian champions, will compete for 29 teams representing various states, Union Territories (UTs), and the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) at the 38th National Games shooting events. These competitions will take place in Dehradun (Rifle/Pistol) and Rudrapur (Shotgun) from January 28 to February 13.
Punjab leads with 32 shooters, followed closely by Haryana with 31, and SSCB with 27. Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and the hosts Uttarakhand each contribute 20 shooters.
Among the UTs, Delhi, Dadra and Nagar Haveli & Daman and Diu, and Jammu and Kashmir have sent the largest contingents of nine shooters.
In the last edition held in Goa, Haryana outperformed Punjab with five golds compared to Punjab's four. Other states contributing to the medal tally include Madhya Pradesh (2), Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal, who collectively won the remaining five medals.
All Paris Olympians except Manu Bhaker and Esha Singh will participate. Olympic medalists Swapnil Kusale, Sarabjot Singh, and Vijay Kumar will showcase their skills, along with former Air Rifle World Champion Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil, representing Maharashtra.
Four Olympians will defend their titles, notably Anjum Moudgil (women’s 3P), Angad Bajwa (men’s skeet), and Rajeshwari Kumari (women’s trap) from Punjab, along with Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar from Madhya Pradesh, who secured double gold in Goa.
The Rifle and Pistol events will kick off at the Maharana Pratap Sports College range in Uttarakhand from January 28 to February 6, while the Shotgun competitions will be held at the 46th Battalion PAC campus in Rudrapur from February 6 to February 13.
