Mumbai, Feb 7 (NationPress) Former World No. 21 in singles, Jil Teichmann stands out as one of the prominent players still vying for victory in the ongoing Mumbai Open 2025 WTA 125, hosted at the renowned CCI Club in Mumbai. After facing challenges in her performance over the past two years, Jil is determined to reclaim her status with a title on the hard courts in Mumbai.

With a successful track record of winning numerous WTA and ITF titles, Jil has competed at the highest levels of tennis globally and is impressed by the courts and facilities of the Mumbai Open. Reflecting on the surface, she remarked, “The surface has good quality and is very slow. It reminds me a lot of Indian Wells.”

“The facilities and the club here are excellent. The staff have done a commendable job in maintaining the venue’s cleanliness and organization; I have no complaints,” she added.

As this is her first visit to India, Jil expressed her excitement about playing in Mumbai and appreciated the warm welcome she received. “I've heard wonderful things about India, and I’m delighted to find them true. The people here are incredibly nice, and I feel very welcomed. I’m thoroughly enjoying my time in Mumbai,” she mentioned.

Despite having limited training time after her participation in the Singapore Open, Jil quickly found her rhythm, securing a victory in the Round of 16 against Arianne Hartono in a captivating three-set match. Jil articulated her ambitions for the tournament, stating, “My goal is to progress as far as possible, break into the top 100, and qualify for the main draws in the Slams.”

Jil is set to face India’s Shrivalli Bhamidipaty next in her singles quarterfinal match on Friday.
