During the Commonwealth Sport General Assembly held in Glasgow on Wednesday, delegates from the 74 Commonwealth member nations endorsed India's bid. This event will mark a significant milestone as it returns to the nation after two decades, with the last Commonwealth Games being hosted in 2010 in the capital city.

“I am incredibly proud that the Commonwealth Games 2030 will take place in Ahmedabad. This is a proud occasion not only for the city or Gujarat but also for our entire nation. My tennis journey commenced here, making this especially significant for me,” Zeel remarked to IANS.

“For Indian athletes, the chance to compete against international participants is a fantastic opportunity to learn, develop, and excel,” she concluded.
Shortly after Ahmedabad was declared the host for the 2030 Commonwealth Games, a vibrant cultural performance featuring 20 Garba dancers and 30 Indian dhol drummers surprised the delegates, showcasing the rich heritage and pride that athletes and spectators can anticipate from a Games held in Gujarat.
In addition to naming Ahmedabad as the host, Commonwealth Sport also confirmed that 15 to 17 sports will be included in the Ahmedabad 2030 program.
