Gandhinagar, Dec 16 (NationPress) The All India Civil Services Lawn Tennis Tournament 2025–26 was officially launched in Gandhinagar by Gujarat Chief Secretary M.K. Das.

This prestigious national tournament, organized by the Gujarat State Administrative Secretariat Welfare Committee, is set to take place at the Gymkhana in Sector-21 from December 16 to 22.

In his welcome address to players from all over the nation, the Chief Secretary emphasized that this tournament serves as a remarkable national sporting platform, uniting civil servants from diverse states and Union Territories. It promotes friendship, health, and sportsmanship beyond their official duties.

He pointed out that Gujarat is swiftly becoming a vibrant center for sports, where athletics and physical wellness are now essential components of daily life for all ages and communities.

Chief Secretary Das mentioned that under the astute leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gujarat has established top-notch stadiums and training facilities. Initiatives like 'Khel Mahakumbh' have sparked interest in sports from the grassroots level, transforming it into a popular movement throughout the state.

Referring to India's increasing medal collection at the Olympics, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games, he remarked that every medal symbolizes not just an individual achievement but the nation's growing confidence, dedication, and global reputation in sports.

Tournament Convener Rahul indicated that this year's event holds particular importance with the debut of the Women's Team Championship, marking a significant step towards inclusivity, equality, and fair opportunity in sports for civil servants.

He added that this initiative would motivate more women officers to participate and lay a robust foundation for women's sports within the services.

The tournament will feature 28 teams from various states and Union Territories, comprising a total of 266 players, including 187 men and 79 women, competing at both state and national levels.

Notable attendees at the inauguration included Youth Services and Cultural Activities Commissioner Alok Kumar Pandey, Additional Secretary (Protocol) Javalant Trivedi, Director General of the Sports Authority of Gujarat Sandeep Sangle, Organising Secretary Satkar Desai, Roads and Buildings Secretary P.R. Patelia, Gandhinagar Collector Mehul Dave, Municipal Commissioner J.N. Vaghela, Chief Referee Anton D'Souza, along with players and coaches from across the nation.
