Manchester, April 1 (NationPress) Ruben Amorim has dismissed rumors suggesting Bruno Fernandes could make a switch to Real Madrid, stating that the Portuguese manager has already informed the midfielder that he is not leaving.
Recent reports indicated that Real Madrid had an interest in the in-form captain, who is set to lead United against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday (IST).
After Fernandes acknowledged that he had prior offers to depart, he chose to stay committed to the Red Devils by signing a new long-term deal. Ruben was pleased to deny any rumors of Bruno's departure, emphasizing his loyalty to the club and his lack of desire to leave.
"No, that's not going to occur," stated Amorim during a press conference.
When queried about whether United could fulfill the Portugal international's ambition for more trophies, his compatriot responded, "That is the objective. I want Bruno to remain because, as I mentioned, in perhaps the toughest times of our season, we aim to reclaim the Premier League.
"We want our top players to stay with us. He's 29 [30], I believe, but still so youthful as he plays 50 to 55 matches per season. With his contributions, he is responsible for at least 30 [goals and assists]. Hence, he is precisely the type of player we want here; he is not going anywhere."
When asked whether he was aware of Bruno's position on the issue through discussions with the captain, Ruben reiterated that the player is committed to achieving further success with the club after winning both the Carabao Cup and Emirates FA Cup in the last two seasons.
"We have the situation under control, and I feel he is very content here, especially as he comprehends our ambitions. Moreover, I believe he is yet another supporter of Manchester United and genuinely feels it. Occasionally, the frustration that is visible to everyone may seem unfavorable in a captain, but it signifies that he desires this intensely. This is the kind of player we want, and he is not going anywhere because I already informed him [so]," he concluded.
