Vadodara, Jan 29 (NationPress) Amy Jones, the England wicketkeeper-batter, is gearing up for her debut in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) during a crucial match as the UP Warriorz go head-to-head against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Match 18 of the tournament. This face-off could be pivotal for their playoff aspirations.

Jones has stepped in as a replacement for Australia’s Phoebe Litchfield, who has been sidelined due to an injury. The 32-year-old England international joined the team at short notice but is keen to make a significant contribution as the Warriorz approach this critical battle.

In a pre-match interview, Jones spoke about the whirlwind of her arrival and the challenges associated with travel. “I've managed to overcome the jet lag. I had a couple of restful nights. It was indeed a quick turnaround, but I'm thrilled to be here,” she expressed.

So, I'm genuinely excited for this chance. It’s been a challenging few hours, but I’ve kept up with the highlights and looked forward to catching them each morning,” she mentioned.

The timing of her debut is particularly compelling, as the UP Warriorz enter the concluding phase of the league, fully aware that every game is crucial. Jones welcomes the pressure that comes with such an important situation. “It’s exhilarating. As you pointed out, we’re at a critical juncture right now. Every match is a must-win, which is incredibly thrilling for us as players,” she stated.

Jones also shared insights into the atmosphere within the Warriorz team, emphasizing that everyone understands the stakes against RCB. “The energy is high. We’ve had excellent training sessions and a motivating team talk before leaving the hotel. Everyone is really looking forward to getting out there and showcasing our skills,” she said.

When asked what the audience can anticipate from her performance on the field, Jones kept her expectations realistic, focusing on her usual contributions. “I’m not entirely sure, but I hope to bring what I offer in other competitions. I’m eager to get out there with the gloves, and I hope to do well for my new team,” she remarked.
