New Chandigarh, April 6 (NationPress) Fast bowler Jofra Archer, who played a pivotal role in the Rajasthan Royals' 50-run victory over Punjab Kings in IPL 2025, remarked that taking a wicket with his very first delivery of the second innings was a key moment in securing an advantage for his team and energizing the players on the field.

In previous matches against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders, Archer conceded 76 and 33 runs respectively without claiming a wicket. However, he bounced back with a remarkable performance, taking 1 wicket for just 13 runs in RR's triumph over Chennai Super Kings in Guwahati.

In Mullanpur on Saturday, Archer was in exceptional form, dismissing Priyansh Arya and Shreyas Iyer in the opening over with deliveries exceeding 145 kmph, before returning to claim the wicket of Arshdeep Singh later in the innings, concluding his spell with impressive figures of 3-25.

“I aimed to provide the team with a solid start, trusting that the bowler at the other end would maintain the pressure. Honestly, I anticipated the ball would swing more than it did,” Archer explained.

“I didn't foresee it swinging less, but I am thrilled to have taken a wicket on the first ball, setting the tone for the match. It infused energy into the team, and I’m just pleased we secured the victory in the end,” Archer shared during a video call with Yashasvi Jaiswal on iplt20.com on Sunday.

Jaiswal noted Archer’s intention to bowl a bouncer to Arshdeep but instead deceived him with a half-volley. Archer elaborated, “Yes, as I approached, he seemed to back away slightly, so I decided to target the stumps.”

Jaiswal, who marked his return to form with a notable 67 runs off 45 balls, highlighted the significance of his innings in helping RR surpass the 200-run mark. “It was crucial for me to always aim for the next challenge. I had to embrace the pressure and enjoy it because, of course, pressure is part of this game,” he stated.
