New Chandigarh, April 6 (NationPress) Jofra Archer made a remarkable comeback with a Player of the Match (POTM) display during Rajasthan Royals’ 50-run triumph over Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 here on Saturday.

The 30-year-old fast bowler faced a tough outing in the season opener against Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he recorded the most costly spell in IPL history, conceding 76 runs in his four-over stint. However, on Saturday, he struck early by dismissing Shreyas Iyer and Priyansh Arya in his very first over, setting the stage for a significant victory.

Reflecting on his earlier performance, Archer emphasized the importance of enjoying the game. He stated, “At the start of the tournament, days like that are expected. The key is to contribute positively to the team. During tough days, focus on making the most of the good ones. Understand that luck can fluctuate; sometimes the batters will have the upper hand. Not every day will be perfect, but on the good days, savor the experience, as a challenging day could be just ahead.”

Captain Sanju Samson, who is leading the team for the first time this season after recovering from finger surgery, humorously commented on the potent combination of Archer and Sandeep Sharma, who collectively took five wickets. He praised Archer’s performance, saying, “That’s a lethal duo (Archer and Sandeep), with one bowler hitting 150 and the other at 115.”

Samson added, “We all appreciate it when he (Archer) bowls quickly. He has consistently performed for me over the last four years; he is among the finest fast bowlers in India today. We had a brief discussion during the timeout, emphasizing that they are a strong side, and we cannot afford to slack off. Until the last ball is bowled, a win is not guaranteed.”

“We maintained our focus on the process, allowing the outcome to take care of itself. We took our time identifying the optimal combinations and lineups, all while managing injuries, as this is a lengthy tournament,” he said.
