Ahmedabad, Aug 1 (NationPress) Adani Sportsline’s “Garv Hai” athlete Poymantee Baisya has continued her remarkable streak on the international table tennis stage, clinching the silver medal in the mixed doubles category with her partner Akash Pal at the WTT Contender Lagos 2025.
Baisya and Pal, who were the top seeds in the tournament, made history by becoming the second Indian mixed doubles duo to reach the finals of a WTT Contender event, which took place in Lagos, Nigeria, from July 22 to 26.
The reigning national champions showcased their skills by winning their initial matches with straight-game victories in both the opening round and quarterfinals. During the semifinals, they triumphed over Italy’s John Oyebode and Gaia Monfardini with a score of 3-1, but faced a setback in the final, losing 1-3 to France’s Jules Rolland and Prithika Pavade.
“This is a fantastic moment for both Akash and me. We’ve really enjoyed our game, and it feels special to be only the second Indian pair to reach a WTT Contender final,” expressed Baisya.
